Tyas Martin is a Hokie!

Virginia Tech has been in enviable position for Arkansas defensive tackle Tyas Martin for some time, and today he made it official.

The 6-4, 315-pounder committed to become the sixth member of Virginia Tech's 2021 recruiting class.

A high-three-star prospect, Martin is the top player in the Natural State, and the No. 22 defensive tackle nationally. While his Jacksonville High School team struggled this season, he was an immovable mountain in the middle.

His size certainly indicates a move toward more-massive defensive linemen, something that the Hokies' new DL coaches have hinted at both verbally and through their offers since taking the gig.

With his pledge, Virginia Tech climbs to the No. 20 recruiting class in the 2021 cycle. The Hokies were at No. 22 after Sunday's commitment from four-star receiver Latrell Neville, but had dropped slightly to No. 27 with several commitments around the country coming over the course of this week.
