Tre Turner is a Hokie

Virginia Tech's coaching staff has pulled of its biggest recruiting win thus far in the 2018 class. Greensboro (N.C.) Northwest Guilford wide receiver Tre Turner has pledged his word to become a Hokie.

The 6-4, 185-pound Turner is the No. 15 wide receiver and No. 101 overall prospect nationally, and the No. 4 rising senior in North Carolina. During his junior season, Turner caught 52 passes for 1,065 yards (20.5 per reception) and 12 touchdowns. He ran seven times for nine yards (1.3 per tote), and he also threw two passes, completing one for four yards. He made 30 total tackles in the secondary, broke up eight passes, and intercepted one, returning it for 25 yards and a score.

He immediately becomes the highest-rated member of the class (surpassing the other four-star, fellow receiver Darryle Simmons), and boosts the group to No. 27 nationally. After previously being a standout on the basketball court as well (averaging 15.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game as a junior), he'll forgo his senior season of hoops to focus on football and enroll at Virginia Tech in January.
