Virginia Tech won't have to wait long to find out if it's secured its quarterback of the future. Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter's Prep three-star Tahj Bullock will make his commitment this afternoon.

Bullock toured Virginia Tech last weekend, and has taken coach guided "virtual visits" in the past, as well. Boston College, Rutgers, and Syracuse - all of which have ties to his talent-rich high school program - are among the programs the Hokies will have to beat out to secure his pledge.
The 6-3, 215-pounder was offered in the wake of the coaching staff losing a commitment from Texas four-star Dematrius Davis, and while he wasn't the only signal-caller offered at that time, he quickly emerged as Virginia Tech's top option. The No. 11 player in New Jersey and No. 13 dual-threat quarterback nationally, Bullock would certainly be more than just a consolation prize for the VT coaching staff.
With a pair of redshirt juniors, a redshirt sophomore, and a redshirt freshman on the Hokies roster - after the staff decided to forgo a Class of 2020 signee at the position - the need at the QB position is strong, and Bullock could be just the player to develop for a year or two before ascending to a multi-year starting role in the Orange and Maroon.
He has made many visits to Rutgers, however, as well as a spring trip to Syracuse, so the Hokies can't be simply assuming they have his commitment locked up. If they do secure him, though, a crucial piece of the 2021 class - and potentially added fortification for their improving profile recruiting the Garden State - could be in the fold.
If VT doesn't land him, the staff will re-evaluate its recruiting board for the second time in just a couple months before deciding a different path to take.
