The latest

Merklinger was offered late last week, when outside linebackers coach Shawn Quinn was in Savannah. That's notably particularly because Quinn spent the past three years as the head coach of Savannah State and has outstanding familiarity with (and a good reputation in) the region. It's relatively early in Merklinger's process, though he's taken some unofficials around the region, and that should allow the Orange and Maroon to remain near the top of his mind during the February Dead Period, until he's able to take a visit for a spring practice.
