A somewhat surprising commitment came down last night when Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson defensive lineman J'Bril Glaze committed to VT. His interest in the Hokies was not a mystery, but whether the coaching staff was ready to take him was a question mark.
Question answered:
The 6-3, 252-pound Glaze is a two-star prospect unranked within his position or the Sunshine State, but the strongside end will bulk up and be a defensive tackle when he arrives in Blacksburg. In 10 games this Fall, he made 32 total tackles, seven for loss with three sacks. He also forced one fumble on the year.
He becomes VT's 21st commitment, and technically the first along the defensive line, though linebacker Nathan Proctor is expected to bulk up and play end during his Hokie career. The commitment moves Virginia Tech up to a tie for No. 31 in the Rivals.com team recruiting rankings.
