Although Virginia Tech was a little late in offering Blacksburg (Va.) High 2018 running back Cole Beck, the Hokies have made up for lost time. Today, the three-star named VT to his top three schools.

The 6-0, 174-pounder plays his high school ball just a few miles from Lane Stadium, and his childhood fandom of the Hokies helped VT get back in the hunt despite not offering until August. He and his family discussed whether the late entry would damage Justin Fuente's crew in his recruitment, but it's a test VT clearly passed.

The Hokies already have a commitment from two-star Caleb Steward, but Beck's high school exploits (1372 yards on the ground as a junior, and the fastest high school time in Virginia in the 100-meter dash in the Spring, 10.41 seconds) have him a higher-rater prospect.

It remains to be seen where Beck's recruitment goes, but he's likely to take a visit across town for a Hokies game soon.
