The 6-4, 315-pounder follows Texas duo Dematrius Davis and Latrell Neville in pulling back from a Virginia Tech pledge. The top player in Arkansas, Martin's connections to other players in the state (including 2021 tight end Erin Outley and 2022 offensive lineman Andrew Chamblee) were key to VT's recruiting efforts in the Natural State.

The No. 22 defensive tackle in the nation, Martin committed to the Hokies in April sight-unseen. He maintains that he'd still like to use an official visit to see Blacksburg, but the chances of a recommitment seem slim, barring a major push back into the Midlands from the coaching staff. Without Martin, the Hokies' class is down to 11 commitments, and has dropped to the No. 55 class nationally.

Fortunately, defensive tackle is a position at which the staff has a number of realistic targets interested, including in-state prospects Tyleik Williams and Kelvin Gilliam.
