Hokies in the top ten for Tre Turner

Virginia Tech has been in comfortable position for Greensboro (N.C.) Northwest Guilford 2018 wide receiver Tre Turner, and today he confirmed that standing, naming the Hokies to his top ten schools.

Florida State, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee joined the Hokies on Turner's list of schools still in the hunt. Duke, Florida, Maryland, Penn State, and Wisconsin are among those the No. 15 wide receiver and No. 77 overall player nationally eliminated from the running.

The No. 4 rising senior in North Carolina, the 6-4, 185-pound Turner is one of Virginia Tech's top overall targets. Turner caught 52 passes for 1,065 yards (20.5 per reception) and 12 touchdowns as a junior. Also an outstanding basketball player, he recently announced plans to forgo his senior season of high school hoops to enroll early at the school of his choice.

He is transferring to GTCC-Greensboro Middle College High School to accommodate his early enrollment plans, while remaining on the football team at Northwest Guilford.
