Hokies runner up for Dyami Brown

UPDATE: Brown has committed to UNC.

Slowly but surely, Virginia Tech targets are beginning to narrow their lists of suitors, and more often than not, the Hokies are remaining in the hunt. That's the case for Charlotte (N.C.) West Mecklenburg wide receiver Dyami Brown.

Brown narrowed his list to five schools this morning, with the Hokies joined by Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina, and Ohio State. While the other three are certainly contenders, he has long favored VT and the Tar Heels, options a little closer to home. In his previous cut, he'd been down to a top six, with Louisville joining the remaining five, after eliminating programs including Duke, Oklahoma, and Oregon.

The 6-2, 172-pounder is the No. 41 wide receiver and No. 199 overall prospect nationally, and as the No. 9 rising senior in North Carolina, could be a bellwether for the #NC2VT movement that the Virginia Tech coaches and recruits are trying to encourage.

Michigan and North Carolina are the only two of Brown's top schools that have also offered his younger brother, Khafre, who should follow just a year behind Dyami as one of the nation's top pass-catching prospects.
