Devon Hunter has five finalists

One of Virginia Tech's top remaining 2017 targets has narrowed his list for the final time, and the Hokies remain in the hunt. Chesapeake (Va.) Indian River safety Devon Hunter will consider VT along with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, and North Carolina going forward.

The 6-1, 204-pounder is the No. 3 safety and No. 53 overall prospect nationally. He is the No. 2 prospect in the state of Virginia, behind FLorida state running back commit Khalan Laborn of nearby Bishop Sullivan Catholic high school.

Hunter has offers from programs across the country, eliminating the likes of Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State from the running. Given that Hunter had previously mentioned wanting to take official visits to South Bend and Ann Arbor - while not reserving one for Blacksburg - makes this cut an extraordinarily positive one for the Hokies.

Hunter plans to make his final decision in December or January. Look for his official visit to Virginia Tech to come in early December at the conclusion of the regular season for college teams.
