One of the nation's top prospects, Chesapeake (Va.) Indian River four-star safety Devon Hunter, will no longer announce his college commitment Christmas Eve. Instead, the No. 57 overall player in the country will go public with his pledge in January.
The 6-1, 204-pounder is the No. 3 safety nationally and No. 2 senior in Virginia. His final list consists of Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Florida.
He will take his official visit to Blacksburg this weekend, and the delay in announcing his pledge is likely to fit in official visit to other programs as well before ending his recruitment. An NCAA Dead Period begins Monday, which means no official visits until January 11.
Hunter will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl during the dead period.
