He didn't take the most direct route, but Cole Beck will go from Blacksburg to... Blacksburg. The local standout committed to the Hokies at long last this evening.
The 6-0, 174-pounder - who won the state 100-meter title in the 100-meter dash this Spring - also considered several other schools, with North Carolina and Pittsburgh his other finalists. VT actually entered the picture relatively late, botnoffering until August, but as soon as the Hokies were on the table, he prioritized making his way across town to speak to the coaches (which he did for the Clemson game Saturday), and ultimately give his pledge.
He ran for 1372 yards as a junior on an impressive 9.3 yards per carry, and has put together an impressive senior year highlight reel, as well.
