Zion Debose is a Hokie

Virginia Tech has its 27th commitment in the 2017 class, and likely the final. Spencer (N.C.) North Rowan defensive end Zion Debose has pledged his word to become a Hokie. His pledge bumps the recruiting class to No. 28 overall nationally.

The 6-2, 210-pound Debose is a three-star ranked the No. 42 weakside defensive end in the nation, and the No. 24 senior in the state of North Carolina. He joins in-state four-star Tyjuan Garbutt and Maryland three-star Nathan Proctor at the position, while Floridians Robert Porcher and J'Bril Glaze will play defensive tackle.

Debose made 85 total tackles, 27.5 of them for loss with 20 sacks during his senior year. He also defended three passes and forced three fumbles, recovering four (and returning one for a touchdown).
