WRs Jockeying For Position

Just like most of the offense, little, if anything is set with Virginia Tech's wide receivers. Assistant coach Aaron Moorehead has seen plenty he likes, but he's waiting to make any final decisions.
And for Moorehead, most of that is because the Hokies have yet to be full-go in fall camp. While junior Kevin Asante and sophomores Joshua Stanford and Carlis Parker have looked impressive in shorts, as Moorehead points out, the pads aren't on.
But even players like true freshman Isaiah Ford have found a way to stand out a bit in the early going. Ford has caught nearly every ball thrown his way and looked impressive in doing so.
"You like what you see," Moorehead said. "You're kinda glad with your evaluation of what the kid can be potentially, it's on point. He's gotta put pads on, he's gotta go block a safety, he's gotta be able to run by a guy when they're gonna grab his shoulder pads and he's gotta show he can do the same thing in shorts that he can do in full pads."
Ford and others also haven't gotten into full competition yet. Junior Demitri Knowles sprained his right ankle just before camp and has been limited thus far, but should be back within the next week or two.
"I really like where Carlis is at right now," Moorehead said. "He's nowhere near a solidified guy that's gonna be a starter. That's nobody in our room. I'd say the closest thing to that is Josh, but he's still gotta earn his keep every single day. When Demitri comes back, everybody's gotta be fighting him and he's gotta be fighting to get his spot. I think that's gonna be a fun transition and everybody realizes they're getting some reps right now that Demitri is ultimately gonna be getting when he gets back."
