Wheeler out for the year

Virginia Tech got a big win at Georgia Tech last night, but it came at a cost. The Hokies suffered four injuries in the contest including three to starters.
Tight end Sam Wheeler got the worst news of the group. Virginia Tech athletic director Mike Goforth confirmed Wheeler is out for the year with an ACL tear to his left knee.

Wheeler is expected to have surgery in a couple weeks. He posted 15 receptions for 211 yards and one touchdown in nine games this season.
Wide receiver Eddie Royal suffered a strained calf in the game. He is listed as day to day and questionable for the Florida State game a week from Saturday.
Linebacker Xavier Adibi sprained his ankle, but the staff believes he'll be fine. He is probable for the Florida State matchup.
Wide receiver Zach Luckett strained his hamstring, but should be fine.
Meanwhile, linebacker Vince Hall and Ryan Shuman will be in blue jerseys this week which means no contact. Shuman is questionable for the Florida State game, while Hall is out. He is however questionable for the Miami contest.
Finally, offensive lineman Aaron Brown is out for the Florida State game with an injured left shoulder.
Basketball injury
The basketball season starts in exactly one week on November 9th against Elon and Virginia Tech will be without freshman forward Terrell Bell as he had hernia surgery earlier this week on October 30th.
Bell is expected to miss four to eight weeks recovering.
