Today, it paid dividends.
The Hokies picked up commitment No. 12 tonight as Elizabeth City (NC) linebacker Jamieon Moss decommitted from East Carolina and gave his pledge to Virginia Tech.
He was recruited by assistant coach Charley Wiles.
Moss had been committed to the Pirates since Feb. 29, but just received an offer from the Hokies in April. Soon after, he made the trip to unofficially visit Virginia Tech.
"The thing I liked about Virginia Tech was just the overall environment," Moss said. "When I went there, it was just beautiful down there."
Moss is the Hokies' second commitment from North Carolina for the 2013 class, joining Statesville (NC) three-star quarterback Carlis Parker.
Check back later to HokieHaven.com for a full in-depth look at Moss' commitment and what he could mean for the Hokies.
