It turns out, the second visit this fall did the trick.
After taking his official visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend, Oak Hill Academy (Va.) three-star forward Khadim Sy text messaged HokieHaven.com tonight to say he's committed to the Hokies. Sy also visited unofficially for Virginia Tech's football game against Ohio State Sept. 7.
"I really liked the team, the coaching staff," Sy said. "We've got a good relationship, they're really nice people and were very nice to me. They loved me more than everyone else did."
A native of Senegal, Sy gives the Hokies another post presence at 6'10" and 235 pounds. He chose Virginia Tech over offers from Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Miami and Purdue. Sy visited Georgia Tech and Purdue officially earlier this fall.
Sy is the first and could be the lone member of the Hokies' 2016 recruiting class. Only forwards Shane Henry and Greg Donlon are seniors, while Donlon is a walk-on.
He was recruited by assistant coach Steve Roccaforte.
Check back with HokieHaven.com for full coverage of what Sy means to Virginia Tech and what type of player he is.
