Virginia Tech picked up a 2019 commitment on Sunday from 2019 athlete Jahad Carter. The Henrico, Va. stand out has visited Blacksburg multiple times and seemed to be leaning Virginia Tech's way for a few months.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...

"I verbally committed to Virginia Tech because I have a good bond with coach Fuente and the coaches there," Carter said. "I felt at home there on campus and my parents felt comfortable with me going there.

"The coaches labeled me as an athlete," he said. "As long as I’m playing football that’s fine with me."

RIVALS' REACTION

Carter is the first 2019 prospect to commit to Virginia Tech in the 2019 recruiting class. His versatility gives the Hokies a lot of flexibility moving forward with class because Carter projects to multiple positions in college. He is a playmaker with the ball in his hands but his range and physicality also make him an asset on the defensive side of the ball.
