Tyjuan Garbutt is a Hokie

Commitment No. 27 has arrived, and it's one of the biggest of the recent run for the Hokies. Once a commit and now back in the fold is Fredericksburg (Va.) Riverbend defensive end Tyjuan Garbutt.

The 6-3, 222-pound Garbutt initially committed to VT last February, but pulled back from that pledge July 6. After several unofficial visit to Blacksburg during the Fall (for nearly every home game) and his official over the weekend, he's ready to re-join the fold. As a senior - during the brief time he wasn't committed to the Hokies - Garbutt recorded 68 total tackles, nine of them for loss with seven sacks, while returning two fumbles for touchdown on 53 return yards. He also ran 44 times for 211 yards (4.8 per attempt) and four touchdowns, and led his team with 26 receptions for 554 yards (21.3 per grab) and another five scores.

He's the No. 12 weakside defensive end and No. 228 overall prospect nationally, and the No. 9 senior in Virginia. Garbutt is the seventh commitment from the Hokies' home state, and the third to opt to stay home since last Friday. Teammate Orlando Jones will walk on as a running back this Fall, as well.
