Tisdale trims to five, VT in excellent shape

Virginia Tech has had a couple good weeks in the Greensboro, N.C. area, landing four-star wideout Tre Turner and three-star corner DJ Crossen. Over the weekend, VT made the top five for four-star linebacker Alan Tisdale.

Tisdale, a 6-3, 206-pounder out of Page High School in Greensboro, includes Louisville, Mississippi, NC State, and Notre Dame on the list along with the Hokies. Georgia Tech, North Carolina, and Washington State are among the schools that had offered, but missed the cut.

Virginia Tech has long been considered the favorite for the No. 19 outside linebacker nationally andNo. 13 rising senior in the state of North Carolina. He has visited Blacksburg multiple times during his recruitment, and there was even a slight feeling that his most recent trip, for the Hokies' spring game in April, could result in a commitment. While the pledge didn't happen then, it didn't do anything to diminish VT's standing in his recruitment.

Turner, out of Northwest Guilford High, and Crossen, of Dudley High, are friends with Tisdale, and putting together a power trio out of the area would be music to the VT coaches' ears. The North Carolina to Virginia Tech ("NC2VT") movement also includes three-star defensive lineman Joe Kane out of Wake Forest. VT is still hoping to land multiple others from the Tar Heel State, including five-star KJ Henry and four-star linebacker Dax Hollifield.
