Thomas Glad For Change

There's some different scenery around quarterback Logan Thomas as he enters his final spring practice with Virginia Tech.
The senior-to-be has seen a few changes, most notably among the coaches around him. But for Thomas, it's a much-needed difference from last year's 7-6 finish that he hopes can get the Hokies back in the right direction.
Offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler, wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead and offensive line coach Jeff Grimes are all new to the staff and gave a glimpse of what to expect the past two days as spring practice opened.
"They bring a lot of emotion and it's definitely something we needed in our practices and it keeps us on our toes," Thomas said. "For us quarterbacks, it's a big change. Coach O'Cain taught in a different way than Coach Loeffler does. It's a nice change for us and we welcome it."
Thomas especially has gotten to know Loeffler and the two have worked very closely thus far. Loeffler is constantly talking with Thomas and vice versa.
"It wasn't a 'bring me down' type of coaching, it was just coaching," Thomas said. "He wanted me to do it a certain way and I was almost there, I just wasn't doing it the right way. He just wants me to be perfect in everything I do, to be able to make this team that much better."
Ultimately, Thomas said he knows everything will fall more on his shoulders. And he's ready for that challenge again.
"It's definitely something we lacked last year," he said. "(Frank Beamer) always says that leadership will get you the extra two or three wins and I agree. It's my job and a couple of other guys' jobs to be those leaders and make sure this team is going in the right direction, no slacking off and being the best we can be."
