Has your size changed at all?
Everybody says I'm 6'5" but I get asked if I am. I think I am. I mean, in boots, I'm 6'7" so I don't think I'm 6'4" anymore. And I'm about 265. When I left the Team USA stuff, I weighted myself and I was 265 and a half. I think I might have lost a pound since then.
What does your workout routine entail?
Basically, it's a lot of the main lifts. Everybody does the main lifts, but you also have to work on the auxiliary lifts, speed, running. All that stuff definitely helps you out. I probably workout after school for about an hour and a half or most of the time after basketball practice because I have basketball practice right after school until 5. It's kinda hectic, but whatever makes you better, whatever makes you faster, stronger and better.
When do you plan on reporting to Virginia Tech?
Everything I've talked about and set up is that I'll report at the end of June, early July for the second session of summer school.
What do you plan on working or improving on through this summer?
Maturity, that comes first. I definitely need to mature a little bit. I get screamed at sometimes on the basketball court. I need to learn how to take it well, improve on it. I've definitely gotten better because when I was a freshman or sophomore, I used to shut down. If you screamed at me, I'd be a little girl and get quiet. Speed, you always need to get faster and stronger and I wanna finish high school with a bang. I wanna have fun and that's the only reason why I stayed, just to relax because you're only a senior in high school once and it's never the same again. I'm excited and ready to go to Tech, but I'm just gonna take my time.
How would you describe your playing style?
I guess high energy and strength. I'm not really a speed guy, but if I have to, I will. Strength, bull rush, motor and just high energy.
What are some of your goals for your freshman season at Virginia Tech?
I'm not stupid, I'm not cocky, I know I need to humble myself and know I'm probably not gonna start. But that doesn't change the way I'm gonna be coming into Tech. I'm gonna come in with the idea that I'm gonna better my team. If I move to scout team, I'm gonna help offensive tackles. If I don't get the chance and redshirt, that's a great experience. Injuries happen and if I finally get my chance at college football my freshman year, I'm gonna take it with pride and help out the team that way.
What player or team are you most looking forward to going up against?
Alabama is first game. That's gonna be amazing. That's gonna be a great game to watch. Other than, it's all ACC and I love ACC football.
What's your favorite food?
Probably steak, but everybody says that one. Filet mignon, that is amazing.
What is your favorite movie?
"Anchorman." I love comedies and if I had to pick a serious movie? I don't even know. I don't really like serious movies. I definitely like the comedy movies.
What is your favorite TV show?
Ooh, probably "Family Guy" or a show like that. I do like "Walking Dead" and "Moonshiners." I don't miss those shows and I love Discovery Channel.
What's the one song you're getting amped up to before a game?
Probably screamo, but let's see what songs. Actually, one good song is "Fearless," by For Today. It's basically a Christian band, but you can't tell if you don't read the lyrics. It's like we're not afraid and kind of a good thing.
What would be three words to describe you?
Probably high-energy, a lot of fun. I'm a fun guy, rarely in a bad mood. And happy (high-energy, fun and happy).
If you could date any celebrity, who would it be?
Probably Jessica Alba. I know you hear that one all the time, but she's gorgeous.
If you could go toe to toe in the ring with anybody, who would it be?
Ooh, I'm not much of a fighter. I don't like being wronged, but if I've gotta fight anybody, just to say that I got a punch by Mike Tyson would be great. Dude, do you know how many girls you'd pick up saying "I got a punch from Mike Tyson and I'm still not knocked out?"
What's been your most memorable experience playing football?
There's so many. If I had to pick one, it'd be my sophomore year, the first time I ever played varsity football. There was a guy named Cortez Carter who was kinda like my big brother and he plays at Marshall now. He looked out for me and he's probably one of the best memories. We lost to Briar Woods 7-0, who went on to win state.
