Has your size changed at all?
Nope, it's still the same.
What does your workout routine entail?
I'll go down to Charlotte and do a lot of DB technique drills. I do a lot of backpedaling, a lot of one-on-ones, stuff to just keep my mind moving, keep my body right, keep all of the fundamentals of the position and the game. I try keeping all of that and working on it. I do speed training, so I keep my motion and my form. I try to keep everything consistent with that. I lift with a personal trainer and I was on a weight-gaining program, a meal program and gained some weight, some muscle mass.
When do you plan on reporting to Virginia Tech?
I've gotta get everything packed by Thursday because we've gotta be there early on Friday.
What do you plan on working or improving on through this summer?
Size and speed, so I can have a better chance to make an impact.
How would you describe your playing style?
I'm a fun guy to watch play. I like to look good, but at the same time, I like to get dirty. I like to make hits and I imagine making the biggest plays of the game in my head. Every time I'm playing, I wanna be that guy. I like to trash talk, but I like to back it up, too and I like to win. I learn from every loss, so I'm a smart football player. I have great instincts and what I would bring to any program is a winning spirit, a guy who gives his all to win every game he plays.
What are some of your goals for your freshman season at Virginia Tech?
I wanna play. I wanna be known as one of the impact players on the defense if I get the chance to become an impact player. I wanna beat everybody in the ACC that's a top guy. I wanna get back with that early 2000s Virginia Tech, earn our respect back as a program. I just wanna make an impact, not only at Virginia Tech, but in college football and I want my team to excel as well. I want America to know us as the team that comes out of nowhere and shocks the world all four years.
What player or team are you most looking forward to going up against?
I'm not necessarily looking forward to a player or a team to play against. I'm just looking for the crazy games that keeps everybody in America watching, national TV, the biggest games of the week. Those are the games I'm looking forward to playing in.
What's your favorite food?
I like Japanese hibachi food.
What is your favorite movie?
The 'Lion King' was my favorite movie growing up and 'Big Daddy' was my favorite movie growing up. Now, I don't really have a favorite. I enjoy all movies for the most part. I watched Lion King and Big Daddy with my brother every day.
What is your favorite TV show?
I don't really have one. I'm not really watching TV, but I'll watch games. I don't even like watching the NFL unless it's the playoffs.
What's the one song you're getting amped up to before a game?
This year, I didn't even really listen to music. I kinda make up my own and I have one of my teammates, we'd get together and just sit and vibe and make up our song. I like to make up my own music when I go out there, keep a little rhythm in my head and that's how I have fun out there.
What would be three words to describe you?
Creative, competitive and caring. I care about a lot of people and try to help out a lot of people.
If you could date any celebrity, who would it be?
Angelina Jolie.
If you could go toe to toe in the ring with anybody, who would it be?
I don't really have anybody. I don't wanna box anybody. I would say I'd wanna take on whoever would wanna take me on.
What's been your most memorable experience playing football?
I remember when my dad was teaching me how to hit. The process of that and learning more about football. From a young age, I was one of the best running backs in the area, the fastest guy and just growing up in the sport, football has given me a lot, taken me to a lot of different states. It's done a lot for me, so just growing up in the game, learning more about the game and I really enjoy playing the game in general. Of course, I love winning.
What's the one thing you learned from your recruitment that you would pass on as advice to a future recruit?
Never be afraid to mess up. I feel like the best way to learn is to mess up. Nobody wants to mess up, but the best way to learn is to mess up. Like if you're playing football and coach tells you to play a certain coverage and you mess up, I feel like you need to mess up in that situation, especially in practice. Let's say you're in coverage and the offense scores on a route for an 80-yard play, you need to know that mess up taught you a lot and the routes that can beat that coverage. Just never be afraid to mess up, never be afraid to take on competition. Always be a competitive guy, always working and everything will work out for you. Keep God first, be spiritual, give thanks, let it be known that he's the one who's put you in your situation and everyone will be successful if they do that.
