That's it. No more 'gimme' games for Virginia Tech. The meat of the schedule starts right now. Against

The junior gunslinger wasn't his best in the air, but on the ground he was very good, rushing for a game-high 65 yards and a touchdown. Hokie fans have wanted to see the quarterback run the ball more and got that in Saturday's 37-0 over Bowling Green.
When he runs the ball well, it makes everything easier for Tech. Look for him to run the ball plenty for the rest of the season as the young backs continue to search for their roles in the offense.
The often-injured receiver scored on a 42-yard reception, which broke a long, long streak for him. The senior hadn't caught a touchdown since October of 2010 when he scored against Duke.

Finally getting his shot as the starting running back, Winn has taken off. The senior has 242 yards, already surpassing his total from 2011. He put up 147 yards in a 23-7 win over Delaware State.
At 5-11 and 210 pounds, Winn has solid size and could prove very tough to deal with for a defense that has had difficulties stopping the run. Eack week he has gotten better. Will the case be the same come Saturday?
It's still not there. A few of his passes against the Falcons were solid, and Mike O'Cain credited him with only two poor throws, but it still not there. Yes, the running game and offensive line has been poor, heck, the receivers drops as well play a factor.
He just doesn't look comfortable. Him running the ball well should make passing the ball easier, but he has to be more patient in the pocket and work on his accuracy.
Against a dangerous Hokie defense, his mistakes will have to be corrected soon before Bud Foster's boys take the field.
It's a matter of discipline. No coach hates seeing penalties more than Beamer. Nine penalties in the last game is inexcusable, especially when the majority of them are false starts and you entered the game with 12 penalties in the first three games.
Nothing frustrates a team and it's fans more and it was surely a big focal point in practice leading up to Saturday's game at FedEx Field.
