Recruitment story
Kane only had mid-major offers when he picked up his opportunity from Virginia Tech, on an unofficial visit during spring practice. The faith they showed in him was remembered even when other programs hopped into the mix shortly thereafter, and within a couple weeks, he had committed. Even though he continued picking up offers, he never showed interest in others.
Game breakdown
As a junior, Kane played as a strongside defensive end with some explosive burst into the backfield, though maybe not as much stoutness against the run as he'd have preferred. He re-shaped his body during the offseason, adding a ton of weight. That allowed him to move inside for his senior year, but the sudden weight gain lost him a step in athleticism. He'll have to re-shape yet again when he arrives at VT, but his upside after a redshirt is a good one for a penetrating tackle.
Statistically speaking
Heritage finished 12-2. Kane had 57 total tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two pass breakups, plus a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and an interception return for four yards.
