He didn't have any scholarship offers out of high school, but as a Juco prospect, four-star corner Jeremy Webb is officially a Hokie.

The 6-3, 195-pounder is a long, athletic corner who will join the Hokies as a January enrollee.

Recruitment story

Webb moved around plenty in high school (brother Ego Ferguson played for multiple NFL teams, and Webb lived with him), so college coaches didn't get much chance to see him. That led to a stop at ASA Junior College in New York, where word started to get out. Virginia Tech was one of the earlier offers, and eventually picked up a commitment after he took official visits to UCF and West Virginia. None could stand up to VT, and he picked the Hokies last Friday.

Game breakdown

Webb is an outstanding prospect. Players with his height and length generally don't have the fluid athleticism he possesses, and that makes him capable of playing in man or zone coverage while being an intimidating force. He can come up and tackle against the run, has the ball skills to intercept passes, and the vision to make plays after the pick. He's almost certainly a contributor from day one.

Statistically speaking

Webb had 29 total tackles (one for loss), four pass breakups, and a kickoff return for 26 yards in junior college this Fall. ASA finished 9-1 and champion of the Valley of the Sun Bowl.
