For the past few months, Virginia Tech has zeroed its hunt for a point guard on one. And the Hokies got his first official visit.
On Aug. 29, St James School (Md.) three-star point guard Justin Robinson took his first official visit, to Virginia Tech for the football season-opener. Over the next five weeks, Robinson took official visits to the other members of his top five, Maryland, Providence, Creighton and UNLV. But his first visit proved to be his favorite.
Today, on his 17th birthday, Robinson made his decision official. He have his commitment to the Hokies.
I am excited and blessed to announce that I have committed to Virginia Tech University! #HokieNation🏀— Justin Robinson (@5Alive_) October 12, 2014
Robinson, who was recruited by assistant coach Isaac Chew, had double-digit offers, but was at the top of Virginia Tech's board since just before his visit. He becomes the Hokies' second member of the 2015 class, joining Rivals150 forward Kerry Blackshear, who committed last weekend.
Robinson played his AAU ball this past summer for Boo Williams (Va.), where he played with four-star forward Chris Clarke, one of Virginia Tech's top remaining targets.
