Two weeks ago, Greer (SC) cornerback Troy Pride made his first visit to Virginia Tech, for the Hokies' Feb. 7 junior day. It had been just a few weeks since they became his first offer.
After recounting that visit, Pride decided he didn't need to see anything else. Friday night, he announced his commitment to Virginia Tech via Twitter.
Blessed to say I have verbally committed to further my education and football career with the Virginia Tech Hokies #beamerball #DBU 🐓🔶- Troy Pride 5⃣ (@GHSIsland5) February 21, 2015
Pride becomes commitment No. 4 in the 2016 class for Virginia Tech and its third cornerback commitment. He joins four-star quarterback Logan Byrd and three-star cornerbacks Myles Wolfolk and Kareem Felder.
Pride, who was recruited by assistant coach Torrian Gray, didn't have any other offers. But he had taken in junior days at NC State and Wake Forest over the past few weeks.
