There were plenty of reservations at first. The head coach he committed to, the position coach he did the same to, are both headed out. But after a sales pitch from the new staff and re-thinking his decision, he's back.
On Monday night, Bayside (Va.) three-star wide receiver Phil Patterson announced via Twitter that he has recommitted to Virginia Tech. After initially giving his pledge to the Hokies on Aug. 1, Patterson decommitted on Nov. 7, less than a week after coach Frank Beamer announced his retirement at the end of this season.

Patterson has been a top target for new coach Justin Fuente since his arrival in Blacksburg Nov. 29. Assistant coach Holmon Wiggins, who took over for Zohn Burden, has visited Patterson, as has Fuente. Their efforts got Patterson back in the mix.
Patterson is ranked as the No. 99 wide receiver in the country by Rivals.com, as well as the No. 17 player in Virginia. He rejoins a trio of receivers in three-stars Divine Deablo, Eric Kumah and Samuel Denmark.
