New Virginia Tech football offer: Raheem Layne

Virginia Tech has offered Lehigh Acres (Fla.) Sebastian River 2017 safety Raheem Layne. Here's a quick look at the player.

Minnesota (committed), Indiana, Iowa, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest

Layne committed to Minnesota in November, but the Gophers have since changed coaches. With new coach PJ Fleck bringing in a number of new commitments, it makes sense for Layne - and others who pledged under Tracey Claeys - to look around a bit. That has resulted in a few recent offers, including from Wake Forest and VT today. He plans to take visits to other campuses, and the Hokies will try to convince him to make one of those to Blacksburg before National Signing Day.
