New Virginia Tech football offer: Mayan Ahantou

Virginia Tech has offered Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Oreo 2018 defensive end Mayan Ahanotu. Here's a quick look at the player.

Arizona, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Maryland, Oklahoma, Western Kentucky

Ahanotu already has a ton of offers, but really only Oklahoma compares to Virginia Tech in terms of being a Power-5 team with any history of defense (as much as the Sooners even meet that definition in recent years). The Hokies are putting in work in Central Florida, including landing Tampa-area DE J'Bril Glaze in 2017, and the connections there should ultimately be a bit of a boost. However, getting Ahanotu on-campus will be important, especially with coast-to-coast offers that strain the unofficial visit budget this Summer.
