The latest

VT offensive line coach Ron Crook (and head coach Brent Pry) dropped by Williams's school last week, and the offer came through yesterday afternoon. That's a good start to relationship-building. He's taken a number of visits to Penn State, and the Hokies will want to get him to Blacksburg soon to keep pace to an extent. He's a serious student - attending a top private high school, where he's Class President - and Virginia Tech will want to sell him on the full student-athlete package the school can offer if they want to land him in the end.

Game breakdown

Williams is a big, broad offensive lineman who likely plays on the interior at the next level. He's experienced and successful in zone blocking, where he can wash defenders down the line or drive them forward to create gaps for his running back. He'll want to improve his flexibility to maintain square shoulders to the line of scrimmage while he's blocking laterally, and to help him play with lower leverage at the next level. He does a very good job keeping his feet moving at the point of contact - a rarity among high school prospects. He'll want to get more precise and dogged with his hand technique, working to get his arms inside to avoid holding calls (and to control defenders).
