The latest

Hokies running backs coach Elijah Brooks dropped by St. John's College High last week and Satterwhite was offered in the aftermath. Coincidentally (or perhaps not), SJC played Hyattsville DeMatha that evening - and the Stags not only boast future Hokie Emmett Laws on the defensive line, they're also the program that Brooks played for and coached before getting into the college ranks. Getting him to campus - he's been to Penn State and Maryland on past occasions - will be a priority, but the Hokies' growing connections in the DMV should be a boost there.

Game breakdown

Satterwhite is a bigger corner but manages to have a very smooth backpedal, and he doesn't lose much momentum flipping his hips to turn and run. That allows him to be physical in coverage but also not risk getting run by if a receiver can beat his press. He reads run/pass very well, and is more willing than the average corner to try to beat a block and come up to play the run (when he gets there, he's a willing hitter if not an absolute technician with his tackling form). Thanks to his size, he could bulk into a safety with top-flight coverage skills, or remain a heftier corner with good coverage ability. He's good good two-step quickness that should serve him well in either role - though in transitioning from a backpedal, he needs a recoil step to fire forward.
