Nelson made his way to Virginia Tech's campus this weekend, and was offered before leaving town. Much of his contact has been with non-coaching personnel staffers, so it remains to be seen exactly where he'll ultimately slot in on the recruiting board (but being in the door was worth it at this stage for the Hokies). That he's already been to town is a boost, though it may still be tough to beat the Big 12-region schools that are already in the door - or even more difficult, home-state Nebraska.
