New Virginia Tech basketball offer: Tyrese Samuel

Virginia Tech has offered Upper Marlboro (Md.) Riverdale Baptist 2018 center Tyrese Samuel. Here's a quick look at the player.

Virginia Tech has done a good job recruiting the Eastern parts of the DMV in a couple sports in recent years, and is jumping back in with an offer to Samuel. The Hokies are only the second program to offer, following in the footsteps of Canisius College in Buffalo. With a need for bigmen and a much more convenient location to his home, there's no doubt the Hokies will have the opportunity to be a major player in his recruitment. There's aneed to get him on campus before things can really take off, but VT starts in solid position. Program fit can also be a boost: though he's not as big as some coaches like their big men, VT has shown the ability to win with players even smaller than Samuel running the five.
