For me, it had to be in 2009 when Virginia Tech defeated No. 19 Nebraska. For me, I've always seen VT's record against the other power conferences as few and far between, so when VT was able to beat one of college football's most storied teams at home and do it the way they did, that always stands out in my memory.
For most of the game our offense was down, unable to move the ball against the powerful Cornhuskers defense led by future NFL first rounders Ndamukong Suh and Prince Amukamara. Try saying those names ten times fast!
But then lighting struck in the final minutes as quarterback Tyrod Taylor was able to hit wide receiver Danny Coale for a long bomb to set Tech up at the goal line. From there, Taylor hit wide receiver Dyrell Roberts for the go-ahead touchdown and one of the greatest wins in Lane Stadium history.
What also made it special for me was that I was a student at the time, and I was hungry to see VT finally beat a ranked traditional power like Nebraska. At that moment, I was never so happy to be a Hokie.
