My favorite memory in Lane Stadium has to be my sophomore year of college during the 2005 season. It was a Thursday night, ESPN game against Boston College and at this time we were No. 3 in the country, with quarterback Marcus Vick at the helm and ESPN was pumping us up as true national title contenders.
The stadium was rocking. There were false starts for Boston College left and right and we ran away with the game 30-10.
At this time I was a huge Bruce Feldman reader. There wasn't an article of his I didnt read. As I was walking out of the stadium, BAM! I bump right into Bruce Feldman (I may have been the only person who could recognize him) and we chatted for awhile (incredibly nice guy). I asked him what he thought of Lane and the game itself and he said, without hesitation. "Mike I have been to hundreds of games and every stadium in the country, and I have never seen a louder and more intimidating crowd than I saw tonight. Actually, I have never seen a team (Boston College) more intimidated to play in a game than I saw tonight."
This is when I realized how special the Virginia Tech crowd and atmosphere really was.
