Lyn-J Dixon includes Virginia Tech in top schools

Butler (Ga.) Taylor County 2018 running back Lyn-J Dixon has a ton of bigtime offers, but that didn't stop Virginia Tech from making his top 12 list.

Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Louisville, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Texas join VT on the narrowed list. Some notable programs had offered the three-star but will no longer be in the running to land him, including home-state Georgia and Georgia Tech, LSU, and Oklahoma.

The No. 7 all-purpose back nationally and No. 28 rising senior in Georgia hails from the central portion of the state - not the Atlanta suburbs, where VT is focusing much of its recruiting effort in the Peach State - but with the Hokies making his cut, it's clear they''re doing enough in his recruitment to remain a player. The coaching staff landed tight end Lecitus Smith in the 2017 recruiting class from Fitzgerald, also in the middle portion of the state.

VT has yet to land a tailback in the 2018 class, and will likely be aiming for a pair of signees at the position group. One will likely be an every-down power back, while a more versatile all-purpose player like Dixon is likely to be the other signee. He has not announced further plans for narrowing or ending his recruitment.
