For months, even as the offers have come in and he took visits to see as many as he could, there was one trip East Lake (Fla.) three-star linebacker Carson Lydon took a liking to.
Tonight, Lydon decided he didn't need to take any other visits. Lydon committed to Virginia Tech, announcing his commitment via Twitter:
I have officially committed to Virginia Tech! Can't wait till I can't suit up in maroon and orange!! #hokies #dblock #beamerball- Carson Lydon (@Lydon4CE) May 28, 2014
Lydon becomes the fifth commitment for the Hokies in the 2015 class, joining Rivals250 cornerback Mook Reynolds, three-star cornerback DuWayne Johnson, three-star defensive tackle Eric Whitehead and three-star defensive tackle Harry Lewis. Lydon also had offers from Wisconsin, NC State, Central Florida, Boston College, Illinois, Iowa State, Rutgers, South Florida, Marshall, South Alabama, Syracuse and Wake Forest.
For Lydon, much of his decision came down to his relationship with his recruiter, Torrian Gray, as well as defensive coordinator Bud Foster.
"I don't know if it comes down to one reason," Lydon said. "There's so much about it that I fell in love with the multiple times I'd been up there, between the location, the tradition, Bud Foster being the best coordinator in NCAA and just everything about it."
