Long Decommits From Hokies

Not two weeks after making his commitment, South Rowan (NC) punter Marshall Long is back on the market.

Today, Long announced via Twitter that he has decommitted from Virginia Tech. Long gave his pledge to the Hokies Jan. 14.

Long participated in the Army All-American Bowl Jan. 9 for the east squad. He was recruited initially by assistant coach Shane Beamer, then special teams coordinator James Shibest.

Long had originally planned to visit Virginia Tech officially last weekend. That was cancelled due to blizzard-like conditions in Blacksburg. Long had rescheduled his visit with the Hokies for this weekend but will now visit Georgia, which has offered him a preferred walk-on spot.

Beamer is now an assistant coach with the Bulldogs.
