Ferrine has played a large role in his team’s success. He has scored two touchdowns on special teams, four touchdowns on offense and he has two interceptions at safety.
“I’m very quick on defense, I always get to the ball,” he explained.
Ferrine, who is being recruited solely at cornerback, lists Virginia Tech, Virginia, Notre Dame, Penn State and Boston College as schools he currently favors.
He has yet to set up any official visits. “I’ve basically been to all of them, on camps and visits, so there is not one that I particularly want to go to,” Ferrine admitted. “I’m going to Penn State next week unofficially and I went to the Virginia Tech and Rutgers game up here a few weeks back.”
Ferrine has been in contact with each team on his shortlist and he holds offers from Penn State, Rutgers, Virginia, Boston College and Hofstra. Notre Dame has given him a verbal offer.
Coach Kevin Rogers, the Hokies quarterbacks coach, is recruiting Ferrine from Virginia Tech. “I went up to Virginia Tech with my former coach and a couple of my teammates,” he said. “I liked it, and I know Vegas Robinson, the linebacker.”
“The family atmosphere that they have is great, not only with the team but also around the town of Blacksburg,” Ferrine added.
As a junior, he was selected all-area after he recorded 50 tackles and six interceptions.
Academic Notes: Ferrine holds a 3.0 GPA and he obtained a qualifying score on his SAT. He would like to study Communications in college.
