Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith 2018 linebacker Keshon Artis has long been on VT's board, and they'll learn their fate soon. The 6-0, 227-pounder plans to announce a college commitment in December, and just three schools remain in the hunt:

NC State and Central Florida join the Hokies on his list of finalists. Artis will take his official visit to Blacksburg this weekend - not quite the star-studded list of last Saturday's contest against North Carolina, but an important group nonetheless. He will follow that up with visits to Raleigh (Nov. 4) and Orlando (Nov. 11).

Artis frequently visited Virginia Tech as an underclassman, and the No. 22 senior in the state took an unofficial visit to campus earlier this Fall for the Clemson game, along with multiple teammates from Oscar Smith High, which has traditionally been a top producer of talent in the Tidewater region of the state.

With numbers beginning to dwindle in the group, though - VT currently has 21 commitments (plus post-grad offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw, who signed in February) and is planning to take only about 25 player - it may be tough to find room for Artis in the class, especially with another top linebacker target, Dax Hollifield, still on the table.

The Hokies will try to lay out a plan for the rest of Artis's recruitment at his official visit this weekend, and there should be much more clarity come Monday about how they would manage to fit both players in the class.
