Hoops target Wabissa Bede sets Virginia Tech schedule

Ashburnham (Mass.) Cushing Academy point guard Wabissa Bede is one of the Hokies' top uncommitted targets in the Class of 2017, and Buzz Williams' Hokies know when they'll have a chance to impress the 6-1, 190-pounder.

Bede will host the VT coaches this Saturday on an in-home visit, then head to Blacksburg Sept. 23-25 for his official visit to campus. In between, he will take an official visit to Minnesota Sept. 16-18.

The No. 66 overall prospect nationally, Bede is also considering Butler, La Salle, and UMass. He hopes to make his college commitment this Fall and sign during November's Early Signing Period, but is not insistent on that timeline.

The Hokies currently boast just one Class of 2017 commitment, from Chattanooga (Tenn.) Hamilton Heights Christian wing guard Nickeil Alexander-Walker. The No. 35 overall prospect nationally would certainly be happy to know who his point guard is when he arrives in Blacksburg.

VT will lose four scholarship players following the 2016-17 basketball season, and Williams is looking to replenish the roster with plenty of Rivals150 talent.
