Hokies' three-man hoops class all signed

Virginia Tech has three Class of 2018 basketball commits, and as of this morning, all are officially Hokies.

Long-standing wing pledge Jarren McAllister submitted his National Letter of Intent yesterday, while the two more recent commitments, wing Landers Nolley and point guard Jonathan Kabongo, faxed theirs in this morning.

The three-man class fills most of the Hokies' current needs, and keeps the roster building in the direction that head coach Buzz Williams prefers: athletic point guards and sharp-shooting scorers around the perimeter.

There is one need remaining in the class, however. A true forward would wrap things up nicely, with in-stater Florent Thamba the top target. The 6-10, 230-pound Thamba is a late-rising player who counts VT as likely his most prestigious offer. Originally from North Carolina, he attends Grundy (Va.) Mountain Mission school, just a couple hours west of Blacksburg.

The Hokies will likely bring Thamba on an official visit soon, though it may not be possible to facilitate a trip to campus quickly enough that a commitment could come before the conclusion of the early signing period next Wednesday. That likely means any additions to the class would sign in the regular signing period in April.
