Hokies make Teradja Mitchell's top list

The news out of Virginia Beach Bishop Sullivan isn't all bad for Virginia Tech today. Four-star 2018 linebacker Teradja Mitchell announced his top schools this evening, and the Hokies made the cut.

The No. 4 inside linebacker and No. 96 overall prospect nationally, Mitchell included Virginia Tech along with Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, and USC in his list of eleven schools.

Earlier in the day, VT lost 2017 commit Tahj Capehart, who signed with Maryland, and 2019 commit Tayvion Land, who re-opened his recruitment. The controversial move by Capehart - who informed the staff Sunday that he'd be signing with Maryland instead of VT, and made the news public today - seemed to create some friction between the Hokies' coaching staff and the Crusaders. However, the top "Cru" player (No. 2 in the state) for 2018 still has the Hokies under consideration.

Mitchell is the only 2018 prospect at Bishop Sullivan with a Virginia Tech offer, but the 2019 class includes Land, and VT has offered three prospects in the Class of 2020.

Mitchell plans to take his time coming to a final decision, so there's plenty of time to mend fences and be a serious contender for a prospect from the prime recruiting hotbed for the Hokies.
