Hokies lose James Graham to Georgia Tech

There was a little bit of drama left in Virginia Tech's early signing period: commit James Graham has flipped to Georgia Tech.

The four-star athlete from Fitzgerald (Ga.) was committed to be a defensive back or receiver in Blacksburg, but the home-state school's opportunity to play quarterback - Graham's high school position - was to much to pass up. The Hokies had been hopeful that Graham would at least wait until after the early signing period ended today, giving them a chance to re-recruit him before the next signing period in February.

With Graham out of the fold, Virginia Tech's national ranking drops to No. 16 (from No. 13). However, there are several high-end targets still on the table for January into the Feb. 7 traditional Signing Day.

VT has one committed player remaining unsigned, Washington (D.C.) St. John's three-star defensive tackle Cam Goode. He plans to sign with the Hokies in February. His delay is related to the preferences of his school and coaching staff, not wavering on his end.
