Hokies among those showing the most interest in Winston

Virginia Tech's effort to regain its foothold on home turf extends into the Old Line State, particularly in the suburbs of Washington D.C.

The Orange and Maroon have typically had a tough time cracking into Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha. The fact that the school is less than a mile from the University of Maryland helps explain that. The fact that the school consistently cranks out some of the top prospects in the region makes it a problem that VT is looking to solve.

The coaching staff is putting in the hard work to remain in the mix for athlete KJ Winston, one of the school's top prospects in the Class of 2022.

“Notre Dame and Penn State are definitely two of the schools speaking with me the most currently, but there are a couple others, too,” Winston said. “Oklahoma is definitely in that group. Also, Virginia Tech. West Virginia should be in the group, and South Carolina sort of, although I don't talk to them quite as much as the others.”
