Hokie commit Cam Goode will play in the Under Armour game

Virginia Tech will have at least one representative in a national all-star game: defensive tackle Cam Goode is an Under Armour All-American.

The 6-0, 315-pound Goode is the only confirmed participant to date to represent VT in a national all-star game (though some are still filling out their rosters). The No. 56 defensive tackle in the country and the No. 6 overall senior in Washington D.C. picked VT in June over Arizona, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, and several other options.

He led his St. John's team to a D.C. private school championship just over a week ago, recovering a game-sealing fumble in the fourth quarter.

Last year, the Hokies were represented by safety Devon Hunter in the Army All-American Bowl. Two of Goode's classmates, in-state running back Cole Beck and North Carolina receiver Tre Turner, were unable to win a fan vote to earn a spot in the Under Armour game, where one could have played with Goode. West Virginia defensive line commit Dante Stills beat Beck in the semi-final round of a fan vote and went on to earn the spot.

Goode will have the opportunity to improve his ranking by competing against some of the top overall prospects in the country at a week of practice in Orlando. His sub-optimal height for the position has been one limiting factor to his rankings, but Goode can prove it's not as important as his explosive ability.
