Hampton Three-Star Confirms Pledge

The early haul for 2013 continues for Virginia Tech, with its seventh commitment in the past two weeks.
Hampton (Va.) three-star athlete Deon Newsome confirmed with HokieHaven.com via text message that he's made his decision: he's going to be a Hokie.

"It just felt right," Newsome said via text.
Newsome chose Virginia Tech over offers from Virginia and Purdue.
He already has Hokies connections, as the son of former Virginia Tech linebacker and current Hampton assistant coach Myron Newsome, who was the Peninsula District's Defensive Player of the Year in 1992.
The younger Newsome is known as a dynamic athlete who played quarterback, including in the Wildcat formation, running back, wide receiver, safety, cornerback and linebacker. he's also played as a returner on special teams.
It's unclear exactly where he'll be used by the Hokies at this point.
Check back this afternoon for a more in-depth interview with Newsome.
