Despite the fact that he has helped Westfield to a perfect 9-0 record so far this season, Chantilly (Va.) quarterback Sean GlennonClick Here to view this Link. knows he has a lot of work to do before heading to Virginia Tech. “After seeing Virginia Tech’s game live against Miami, I see I have to work on a lot of things because the speed of the game is completely different from high school,” Glennon expressed. “I have to work on making quicker decisions and getting a little strong so I can get it in there a little quicker.”
As a senior, Glennon has thrown for over 1,200 yards with 18 touchdowns and just one interception. Ranked by Rivals.com as the 10th best pro-style quarterback prospect, Glennon was the Hokies' first verbal commitment from the class of 2004.
How did he enjoy the Hokies’ big win? “I had a great time, it was a lot of fun,” Glennon explained. “First, we ate a dinner with the coaches and that was a lot of fun. We got a chance to talk with the coaches and meet all of the different recruits.”
“Then, during warm-ups we were on the sideline and it was cool seeing all the big names, like Kellen Winslow (Miami’s tight end) and others,” he added. “Seeing them in person was pretty neat. Next, we went into the stands and obviously the game was the best part because it got pretty crazy down there.”
Accompanied by his good friend and teammate, wide receiver Eddie Royal, Glennon rushed the field after the game and was in the locker room for Coach Beamer’s post game speech. “It was just a great atmosphere,” he added.
Did Royal enjoy the trip? “Eddie really liked it,” said Glennon, who is trying his best to persuade Royal into committing to Virginia Tech. “I want him to be my roommate and he’ll admit that he was real impressed on Saturday night.” Royal, who has now taken two unofficial visits to Blacksburg, currently favors Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Marshall. He will be back at Virginia Tech on January 23rd for an official visit.
Prior to last Friday's game, Royal had 21 receptions for 375 yards and five touchdowns on the season. He had also rushed for 89 yards and a touchdown and had three touchdowns on special teams.
